Alchemist is a 1968 Pro-Touring Mustang engineered as a raw expression of American muscle. Built by John and Chris Lung of JCR Restorations, this vehicle represents over 3,000 labor hours of fabrication, engineering, and precision execution.
At its core is a Ford Racing Terminator DOHC crate engine bored to 4.75 liters and paired with a D1 ProCharger utilizing a dedicated independent belt system for maximum boost response and reduced belt slip. A Tremec TKO 600 5-speed transmission transfers power through a reinforced drivetrain designed for aggressive performance and long-term reliability.
The chassis has been modernized with a performance suspension system including a Heidts front end and 4-link rear setup, delivering handling that feels planted and controlled under load. Structural reinforcements throughout the body ensure rigidity and stability at speed.
Finished in Midnight Ford GT Blue with satin silver stripes, the paint process includes multiple basecoat layers followed by a multi-stage clear system, cut and buffed to a glass-like finish. Inside, the car features Pro-Car seats, Phantom AutoMeter gauges, Vintage Air, and modern conveniences including power locks and trunk release. With approximately 1,300 miles and a Best of Show award at Mustang Week 2015, Alchemist is built to be driven hard — and built to last.
The powerplant is a Ford Racing Terminator DOHC crate engine, bored and honed to 4.75 liters and built with forged Manley pistons, a 4340 forged crankshaft with micro-polished journals, ARP head studs, and a Ford Racing oil pump. Forced induction is provided by a D1 ProCharger utilizing a renegade bracket system with a dedicated independent belt drive to eliminate slip and improve boost response. Supporting components include a Sullivan intake system, Accufab throttle body, custom intercooler, 60lb fuel injectors, JBA stainless long-tube headers, and a custom polished stainless exhaust with electric cut-outs.
Power is transferred through a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed transmission paired with a hydraulic clutch system, Spec Stage III clutch, and aluminum flywheel. An aluminum driveshaft delivers torque to a 9-inch rear end equipped with 3.70 gears, Strange Engineering center section, and 31-spline axles.
The front end features a Heidts suspension system with tubular control arms and coilovers. The rear utilizes a Heidts 4-link system with coilovers for improved traction and stability. Braking is handled by drilled and slotted nickel-plated rotors with four-piston calipers front and rear. Subframe connectors and structural reinforcement further enhance rigidity and control.
The body underwent a complete rotisserie restoration and reinforcement process. Finished in Midnight Ford GT Blue with satin silver stripes, the paint system consists of multiple metallic basecoat layers followed by a multi-stage House of Kolor clear application, then cut and buffed to a deep gloss finish. The custom cowl induction hood and tubular reinforcement structure complement the aggressive performance stance.
The cabin features Pro-Car performance seats with three-point harnesses, Phantom AutoMeter gauges with LED lighting, custom carpet with wrapped roll bar, and integrated modern amenities including power locks, trunk release, and Vintage Air air conditioning. A trunk-mounted fire extinguisher and cutoff switch with memory saver further support track-ready reliability.
